Hello Butter + Sugar Friends!

Welp, it’s a new year— time for fresh starts, resolutions, and opportunities. And, it’s no different for Butter + Sugar. If you talked with me at the SMNC Farmer’s Market in 2025, you might have picked up on the fact that 2026 would be a BIG year for Butter + Sugar. And, it will be. In the coming year, we are taking Butter + Sugar to the bakery aisle of grocery stores.

(… gulp… that is BIG.)

But, we’re not going into this blindly. We spent 2025 laying the groundwork for this next step. Early in the year, my husband Adam officially joined the Butter + Sugar team. (Welcome Adam!) Together, we spent the year learning about what it takes to really scale a cookie business. We participated in the Wicked Gluten Free CT Expo at Mohegan Sun in March to see how Butter + Sugar stands up next to other gluten-free treats. (Very well, as it turns out!) We built out our website and made ordering for shipping even easier. We shipped boxes and boxes of cookies out to customers across the country. We also designed retail packaging and successfully brought Butter + Sugar to two local Fairfield County independent grocery stores. We’ve learned from these experiences. And, we’ve learned from you.

We’ve learned that gluten-free treat seekers are hungry (literally) for great tasting treats. You want a cookie that “tastes like a cookie.” You’re not looking for a functional treat. You’re looking for a… treat. You deserve the maximalist flavors and the playful combo of crunchy and chewy textures that the Mega Cookie gives you. Like everyone else, you deserve to treat yourself.

So, with all of this knowledge and all of your support, Adam and I are bravely stepping into the new year and this new adventure with confidence and great hopes for success. To bring Butter + Sugar to the bakery sections of grocery stores nationwide, we are slimming our offerings down to focus on three core products— Mega Cookies, Granola Crunch Cookies, and Unicorn Cookies. We will launch with these three treats in stores and those are the three items that we’ll continue to sell for pick-up and shipping on our website.

What, no Snickerdoodle Bars?!? We hear you. We’ll miss them, too, but we have plans to include them in a (fingers-crossed) second wave of Butter + Sugar product launches. We do hope to offer some of our classic treats as limited time specials for pick-up and shipping later in the year, but for now, it’s all about the Mega, Granola Crunch, and Unicorn Cookies! And, if we’re being honest (and not particularly modest), these three cookies are truly the best gluten-free cookies you can buy.

We plan to regularly share status updates on Butter + Sugar’s evolution— the good, the bad, and, yes, even the ugly— in emails and social media posts. We do not expect this to all be smooth-sailing. It’s hard to launch a consumer package goods brand, but we’re here for it. We believe passionately that the world needs Butter + Sugar, and we are on a mission to make gluten-free more delicious and more-accessible. No compromises. We want to make life a party and you’re invited. We’ll share our wins and challenges with you throughout the year and hope that you’ll offer us your feedback and advice along the way.
